How switching works
- 1
Check your phone
Make sure it's unlocked and works on the new network — use the compatibility check on the new carrier's site.
- 2
Keep your number
Order the new SIM/eSIM first, then port your number when it arrives. Don't cancel the old plan until the port is done.
- 3
Activate
By eSIM in the carrier's app (about 15 minutes for most people), or by physical SIM by post.
- 4
Test for a day
Most of these plans are month to month, no contract — you're not locked in. Except Mint: that's a 12-month prepay.
FAQ
Will I lose my number?
No — if you port it, you keep it. Don't cancel first.
Is the coverage really the same?
Same towers, same network — but these carriers' data can be slowed first when a tower is busy (deprioritisation). That's the catch, and it's on every card.
Why is Mint $15 sometimes and $30 other times?
They're different plans on the same terms. $15/mo is the 6GB plan at the 12-month prepay rate — $180 paid up front; the 3-month renewal is $25/mo. Mint Unlimited is $30/mo on the same 12-month prepay. These are the regular rates, not intro offers.
Are taxes included?
Visible and US Mobile include taxes and fees in the prices shown. Mint and Tello don't — add taxes at checkout.
Do you sell phone plans?
No. We compare published plans and link directly to the carrier. We don't earn a commission on these links yet.
